Si Hei Lwli Mabi

Traditional

This is a traditional Welsh lullaby. The sounds ‘si hei lwli’ don’t have any meaning beyond being sounds to lull a child to sleep.

I have arranged it here for 3 voices.

Translation: See hey loo-lee my baby, the ship is going away, the Captain's on the deck, sleep, sleep my sweet baby, the ship is going away, See hey loo-lee my baby, the wind's blowing from the east, the seagull's on her nest, sleep, sleep my sweet baby, the wind's blowing from the east.

Si hei lwli 'mabi

mae'r llong yn mynd i ffwrdd

Si hei 'mabi lwli

mae'r Capten ar y bwrdd

Si hei lwli lwli lws

cysga, cysga 'mabi tlws

Si hei lwli ‘mabi

mae'r llong yn mynd i ffwrdd

Si hei lwli 'mabi

y gwynt o'r dwyrain chwyth

Si hei 'mabi lwli

mae'r wylan ar ei nyth

Si hei lwli lwli lws

cysga, cysga 'mabi tlws

Si hei lwli ‘mabi

y gwynt o'r dwyrain chwyth
