Rise the Sun
by ruth gordon
I came up with this song in Oaxaca, Mexico, while sitting in a tree. It's a prayer to the Earth and the waters, for humans to remember how to live in loving interconnection with other forms of life.
Rise the sun and set the moon
Walk a long way but come home soon
Roll the river over and through
to the shifting tides, to the deep deep blue
to the shifting tides, to the deep deep blue
And may the mountains stand strong and tall
May the valleys grow green, may the rain fall
May the sun give way to a starry sky
May we learn to live, may we learn to die
May we learn to live, may we learn to die
