long time travelling

elder edmund dumas/frank profitt

This is a version of a Sacred Harp Hymn (a Protestant US hymn singing tradition) with a melody by Frank Profitt. There have been many different versions of this song. The original hymn is usually called White, after Benjamin Franklin White, the compiler of the first Sacred Harp hymnal. The original has two verses and quite a different melody. See below for some different versions. I have arranged it for three voices, based on the version by Appalachian folk duo Anna & Elizabeth.
