Hey Ho
anon
This is an ancient round which has been dated to at least the 16th century, but is very probably older. Different sources say it is English, Welsh, German, but definitely old and European! I was taught the second part on the Isle of Skye. It is also a fragment of a medieval round, probably English. The recording below is of a band I used to perform in: Cakes and Ale.
Hey Ho, nobody home
Meat nor drink nor money have I none
Yet I will be merry
Ah poor bird
Take thy flight
High above the sorrows
of this sad night
